Falkirk has a pivotal role in Scottish History and folklore. Located in the Heart of the Country between both Edinburgh and Glasgow, it is the ideal place from which to explore the delights of Scotland.
For centuries, Falkirk has played a pivotal role in Scottish history. Located in the very heart of the country between the two main cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, Falkirk has witnessed its fair share of historic events.
The northern most point of the ancient Roman Empire was marked by the building of the Antonine Wall (within 5 miles of our Falkirk hotel) right through the area, and William Wallace fought the English here (and lost) at the First Battle of Falkirk - possibly one of the largest battles ever in Britain!
Falkirk town centre has a wonderful selection of large national stores in the fully pedestrianised High Street, a fantastic array of specialist off-High Street shops as well as The Mall, the Callendar Square Shopping Centre and the impressive Central Retail Park. In all, there are actually some 26 shopping streets in Falkirk town centre!
Falkirk's Second Sunday Farmers' Market (within 3 miles of our Falkirk hotel) has now been recognised as one of the finest in Scotland. The market is held on the Second Sunday of every month between 12 noon and 4pm in Falkirk's pedestrianised High Street. It attracts many of Scotland's finest producers selling quality produce at affordable prices such as: beef, ostrich, confectionery, dairy, fish, vegetables and a variety of organic produce.
